The History of Jendar

Having been knocked out by my second covid vaccine and with a couple of busy weekends I’ve been unable to get much done in the hobby, but this time has given me the opportunity to try and work out some of the history of Deathzap and mainly the planet of Jendar. The timeline below is very rough, and hopefully does not contradict anything I’ve put down before.

Dates recorded are written as AD (Anno Domini) according to Earth’s calendar, BC (Before Colonisation) and AC (After Colonisation) according to the Jendari Calendar.

The Age of Colonisation

2200 – 2500 AD (2000-2300 BC) : Quantum Computing rapidly grows Human technological advancement. The Moon, Mars and Venus are colonised along with the moons Phobos, Deimos, Europa, Io, Callisto, Ganymede and Titan. True artificial intelligence is created and Technocratic governments form which greatly speed up development in all areas of human life.

The Millenia

2500 – 3500 AD (1000-2000 BC): The individual Technocratic governments officially join together into a single solar government under a single AI called AO The decision means all resources within the Solar system are shared in the most efficient way possible. Human life for the next 1000 years is a state of near perfection. Indefinite human life spans and consciousness transference into cloned bodies means no human dies.

The Fall of AI

3500 – 4000 AD (500-1000 BC): Teleportation Technology is developed, a portal is built orbiting Mars, several Starships are to be teleported to a newly discovered and habitable Star System dubbed the Xolar system. With chances of success at 99.99% AO goes ahead with the mission. The portal fails to stabalise, a third of the ships are sucked through but are never seen again. The energy released from the failure of the portal causes a Solar communications black out, AO crashes. With no governing AI humanity descends into anarchy and war.

The Age of Jendar

4000 – 4500 AD (0-500 BC): Titan’s Colonists make contact with the Colonists on Europa, Io, Callisto and Ganymede. Under the leadership of Titus Jendar they begin work on rebuilding the martian portal in an attempt to escape the Solar System. This time the portal is successful. However fearing being followed the portal is also set to detonate once the Jendari Pilgrims are through. The detonation of the portal releases a similar energy as before, once again all communications black out, and whatever stability that may have been found is lost.

The Arriving

0 – 100 AC: Within the Xol system, the planet Jendar is immediately colonised, shortly after ships orbiting the planets Gnossos and Ashnyr also settle and begin colonisation. Under strict colonisation laws people are ordered to spread out as much as possible to limit the spread of native pathogens. The pilgrims also made sure to bring some animals with them, basic farming efforts begin.

The Age of Dragons

100 – 400 AC: With technological resources dwindling and no manufacturing in place to replace lost or damaged equipment for a brief period the colonists have to learn the basic skills of civilisation building again. This period is ruled over by Warlords, tribal battles for resources and power are common. Most warriors are equipped with basic spears and shields. Native wild life on Jendar was similar to Earth during the age of the dinosaurs. The large beasts are hunted for food and sport, however some smaller species are tamed and used for cavalry.

The Ordered Age

400- 600 AC: Over time Warlords become kings, tribal territory becomes a kingdom, and the first nations begin to emerge. To the east several tribal warlords band together and elect a single leader and begin the Rin Empire. To the west Volkovia, Harkovia and Reddina are established. Smaller warlords become Barons, they pay taxes to their ruling monarch in exchange for protection and security in their own positions. Warfare in this period is carried out by heavily armoured knights.

The Age of Fire

600-1000 AC: Gunpowder weapons replace Knights and armour. It is a period of a few hundred separate and small wars. Territory is fought for, and most modern borders established.

The Great Schism

1000- 1100 AC: The Rin Empire founds ‘The Jendari Collective’ by offering military protection in exchange for cheaper trade with Babbacumbe, Dabra and Ngoai. The influx of oil from Dabra and diamonds from Babbacumbe causes The Rin Empire’s economy to boom. The Rin Empire, Dabra and Babbacumbe draw up the Jendari Treaty, effectively making them each states within the Jendari Collective, a single nation. Over time Tsoi Khan, Goza, Tsolgin, Shyranir, Vorn and Khef join the Jendari Collective.

Su Khan is offered to join the Jendari Collective but Akaan III the king of Su Khan refuses. Riots errupt in the streets as many Su Khan people were hoping to join. A plan is drawn up by the Jendari Collective and Su Khan Separatist leaders whereby the western half of Su Khan joins the Jendari Collective and the eastern half remains independant. Akaan III again refuses. The Jendari Collective back off for a time, however Separatists within Su Khan do not. Many demonstrations, riots and terrorist attacks take place.

The War of the Three Dragons’ or ‘The Su Khan Civil War’ is fought between Reddina, The Su Khan Royalists, The Jendari Collective and the Su Khan Separatists. Sparked by the War of the Three Dragons the remaining nations of Jendar join forces to form House Baranor, a super power equal in might to the Jendari Collective. Queen Anna Baranor of Haldane is given the position of figurehead.

The War of the Three Dragons ends with The Rin Empire and the Separatists being victorious. Su Khan joins the Jendari Collective. Akaan III is publicly executed by Separatist General Tasko Shan. Jendari forces arrest Tasko and hand him over to House Baranor, attempting to stop the Civil War turning into a Global one.

The Age of Mechanisation

1100-1500 AC: With developments in armaments and combustion engines motor vehicles become commonplace and tanks take to the battlefields. Some development is made with flying machines. Industrialisation takes hold.

The Return of Gnossos

1500- 1600 AC: Small Gnossian ships land on the planet Jendar. In their time apart the Gnossians have been far more successful technologically than any nation on Jendar, they carry advanced energy based weapons have personal protective shields and are capable of space travel. House Baronor and the Jendari Collective seize their opportunity, reverse engineering the Gnossian equipment and pushing it through their huge factories. Within a short time the Jendari Collective and House Baronor make huge leaps in technological advancement.

The Second Age of Fire

1600- 1700 AC: The First Global War erupts as House Baronor and the Jendari Collective both attempt to use their new technology to gain the upper hand over each other. Gnossos cuts ties and communication with Jendar and begins a period of isolation fearing that their technologies are too advanced for the rest of the colonists to use wisely. The Global War ends in a stalemate.

The Age of Peace

1700- 1800 AC: Tired from the First Global War the Jendari Collective and House Baronor live at peace. An attempt to colonise Kannis is made using mostly Volkovian miners and terraformers.

The Age of Invasion

1900- 2000 AC: Communication is cut with the colonists on Kannis and any ships landing on Kannis are destroyed.

The Camerian Civil war on Jendar begins.

Solar Raiders begin entering Xolar space and appear to be entirely hostile, space battles are fought and most Raider ships are destroyed by Gnossian, Kharthonian and Zandorian forces. The partnership in destroying Solar Raider Ships sees the Allegiance of Gnossos, Legion of Kharthion and League of Zandor form the ALL.

Vel Ships also anter the Xolar system, with hugely advanced technology they are left alone by all other forces. They offer themselves out as mercenaries to nearly all factions including even the Solar Raiders. Their mission seems to be entirely about intelligence gathering.

Selenoid attacks begin at random throughout the Xolar System. A squad of Jendari Rangers manage to capture a Selenoid alive after its teleporter malfunctions. In a secret alliance with the Gnossos they reverse engineer the Selenoid’s teleporter and open a portal to a new planet they dubbed ‘Gnojen’.

Darros Mortan unites the colonists of Kannis under a single banner. They become known as Mortan’s Men. It is still unknown as to why they have become hostile.

The Synthos rebel against the Legion of Kharthion on Ashnyr in the year 1998AC. They are defeated by the combined forces of the League of Zandor and the Legion. The remaining Synthos retreat into space and form the Hegemony of Synthos. They quickly ally themselves with the Jendari Collective and House Baronor for protection forming the SynJen Alliance.

The Current Age

2000 AC+ : The Oltra campaign is fought on Oltra a moon of Kannis. The ALL and the SynJen gain footholds on the moon but neither gains enough of an upper hand to fully take control of the moon and begin a full invasion of Kannis.

A new and advanced group of Solar Raiders appear calling themselves the Davian Supremacy. Their technology rivals even Gnossos.

Possibilities for the future:

Play out the Camerian Civil War to its conclusion, leading either House Baronor or the Jendari Collective to gain an advantage over the other and leading to the Second Global War on Jendar.

Fight the second stage of the Oltra campaign in such a way that is has a decisive conclusion leading to a full invasion of Kannis.

  1. That is as complicated and detailed as real history! What a great enterprise! I’d love to see some dinosaur mounted troops.

  2. Wow, it’s difficult to keep all those names and alliances in my head! Do you find yourself identifying with any of the races, and do you think of any of them as good or bad? if you did, that might give structure to the future conflicts – the baddies can be evil enough so that we want to see an end to them, and we all want the good guys to win, don’t we? Battles might then have an added tension…
